Will I play with the opposite gender?

Print

12u Academy

It is likely that training and practice environments will be coed, but coaches will group athletes by gender if numbers allow and if it is in the best interest of the athletes. Skills, strength, and size vary quite a bit at the 8-12u ages and so we will group athletes as needed to create the best learning environment possible.

Youth Academy & Beach Tour

The youth training and competition environments are typically not co-ed, especially when we have the numbers to divide groups. That being said, VOGO does not shy away from promoting co-ed environments when needed as there can be value for athletes. The men’s and women’s games are a different style and so playing with the opposite gender can help build new skills, strengths, and strategies. Do not expect much co-ed training or competition to happen at the youth level, although athletes may play concurrently beside teams of the opposite gender.

*Fall Academy sessions may see more coed training due to lower registration numbers.

Adult League & Beach Tour

VOGO offers coed divisions in both our Adult Leagues and at certain tournaments in the Beach Tour. These events will be labelled as such and any coed play outside of a coed division will be on a case-by-case basis.
